Amulet Phoenix

Amulet Phoenix
There was a TV series , abt 1972 ish about an alien searchin through the American SW?

His people had landed way back in time .and had dealt with the native tribes , the Hopi, ect.and they had left installations behind. These could be found with a gold amulet he wore around his neck, by finding certain indian rock carvings. He also “recharged” himself by putting the amulet in the sun. He had been left in stasis in a rock burial chamber, and was woken accidentally. The premise was that he was supposed to be another “messia” later in our history…I thought the name of the show was “The Phoenix” but I find no listing under that name. Does anyone remember the show, and the name?

It was the Phoenix.

This was the greatest short-lived series of the 80s, and it holds up well even after nearly 25 years. Sure, it’s cheesy but it really is a true classic. I was devastated when it suddenly disappeared from the air so many years again, and am glad I was finally able to see it again. Only 5 episodes (including the pilot) were ever made but every one of them is brilliant. According to the posting guidelines, I’m unable to provide a URL to where you can get it again on DVD, but let’s just say that if you let Google be your guide, you should easily be able to find all 5 episodes for only 5 bucks somewhere on the net! Peace. Enjoy

Edith Nesbit (married name Edith Bland) (1858-1924) was an English author and poet whose children”s works were published under the androgynous name of E. Nesbit. She wrote or collaborated on over 60 books of fiction for children, several of which have been adapted for film and television. She started a new genre of magical adventures arising from everyday settings and has been much imitated. She was also a political activist and co-founded the Fabian Society, a precursor to the modern Labour Party. Nesbit”s books for children are known for being entertaining without turning didactic, although some of her earlier works, notably Five Children and It (1902) and even more so The Story of the Amulet (1906), veer in that direction. Among Nesbit”s best-known books are The Story of the Treasure Seekers (1898), The Wouldbegoods (1899) and The Railway Children (1906).
