Coins Through

I’m an amateur coin collectioner how can I ask other countries’ people to send me their coins through internet
I mean how can I send them coins or anything from my country and ask them to send their country’s coin in return? At least, where can I ask this request for finding volunteers?
If you want to do it through internet, a few things you need to know beforehand:
1) search the web for internet coin swappers. But be careful coz there’re many dishonest swappers out there. So look for those contacts that have proven records. For example, if they have a website, then check if they have a list of good swappers. You can also get contacts from their list too.
2) prepare your own updated list of coins for exchange/swap. Use programs like Notepad, Word or Excel to type the list of coin doubles you have for exchange. Describe as detail as possible. Most of the internet coin swappers out there will only be interested to proceed with a trade negotiation if you provide your coin doubles’ list. You can also learn about making a double’s list by referring to others’ samples.
3) for a start, do not send out too many coins at one time. Try out a contact first. Do not be afraid to negotiate.
4) some coin swappers will insist on registered or insured post, then request the parcel number as proof of sending. While it is better to do so, it’s not recommended unless the coins you are exchanging have much value to cover the postage. Some internet swappers may require you to mail your coins first if you have not swapped with anyone before or if you choose not to send by insured post. You can do so, but only if the swapper has proven records.
5) know the coins you are offering and getting. Acquire a world coins reference book if possible for guide. Most swappers exchange coins 1 to 1 for commons and lower denominations(no foreign currency exchange rate is applicable here), unless a coin has high value or made of silver. Just to give you an example: Many internet swappers currently ask for 3-5 common coins for a 1 Euro coin(that has been circulated).
6) packaging the coins is also important. Many coins were lost in mails coz dropped out of the envelope. You can use masking tapes to secure the coins, then sandwich them in between 2 cardboards. But never use glue to stick the coins. They can be very difficult or can never be removed later.
7) a swapping tip: When you exchange coins, it’s advisable to exchange for some duplicates. So you can use them for your other swaps in future!
That’s all. We learn through experiences. Good luck.

State of Israel Coins Joshua Bronze Medal $181.09 In the Midrash it is told that four leading biblical personalities Abraham Joshua David and Mordechai had coins issued in their honor and through these coins each of them gained world renown. The word used by the Midrash for Coin is the word Monitin and interestingly this appears to be the root of the words Money Monnaie and Moneta that stem from Latin. In modern Hebrew the word Monitin denotes good reputation . The Midrash also describes the designs that appeared on each side of the coins. Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation has chosen to strike the coins described in the Midrash on medals. Art Students of the Emunah Academy for Women Jerusalem have been invited to submit designs and the winning designs have been chosen out of those submitted. First in the series was the Abraham and Sarah Medal that was introduced in our last promotion. This came in a Set Presentation Box designed to hold all the four medals in the series. Each of the medal versions of this medal are still available and the whole series may be ordered on a standing order basis. We now proudly present the Joshua Medal. The firstling of his herd grandeur is his and his horns are like the horns of a wild ox… is the blessing bestowed upon the Tribe of Joseph by Moses before his death. Joshua came from the Tribe of Ephraim the son of Joseph. These are the elements on the Joshua Coin described by the Mishnah. The ox signifies the strength of Joshua and the horns of the antelope his majesty and courage. Joshua was the leader who succeeded in his mission despite the hardships and quarrels of the people. In face of the enemy nevertheless he remained steadfast like the horns of the antelope . These two aspects of his personality are expressed on the two sides of the medal. Obverse:. The ox on the obverse side signifies the strength of Joshua. Joshua was the leader who succeeded in his mission despite the hardships and quarrels of the people. Reverse:. State of Israel Coins Akko Set 2 Silver Coins $610.53 The Bank of Israel has chosen the new Akko coin with which to open both the year 2010 and the new decade. Akko richly deserves to be included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites worthy of preservation inasmuch as this 4 000 year old port city jutting into the blue waters of the Mediterranean on Israel s northern coast is a unique and priceless jewel. UNESCO s designation of Akko states that the exceptional history of the city is reflected in the fact that its well preserved Crusader subterranean city dating from the Middle Ages atop which is the Islamic fortress city of Ottoman times (18th19th centuries) presents a priceless picture and testament of how ancient cities were planned and constructed and how later cities were built emerging from and on top of the older ones. This is exemplified as well in the layered archaeological findings of Jerusalem and each city teaches us about the other one. It is interesting to note that the Crusader city with Byzantine and Roman remnants was discovered in the 1960 s when municipal development necessitated the construction of a modern sewer system. Akko incorporates and encapsulates the entire history and archaeology of the Land of Israel from Biblical times even before King Solomon through the Greeks and Romans the Byzantines the Crusaders the Ottomon Moslems Napoleon the British and finally the fledgling State of Israel (as depicted in the famous film Exodus with its dramatic prison escape from Acre s moated fortress). Akko (Acre) is also a microcosm of modern Israel where Jews and Arabs live work and interact together in normalcy which is enviable throughout the Middle East and boasts a thriving population of some 47 000. It is a tourist mecca as well and its beauty can be seen on this coin which portrays on its obverse the ancient fortress walls with the famous KhanelUmdan caravanseraie and its clock tower erected to celebrate the 25th year of the reign of the notorious Ottoman Butcher of Acre Sultan Suleiman Abdul Hami |

State of Israel Coins KABBALAH Silver Medal With Color $501.88 Jewish Mysticism is known as the Kabbalah receiving for it has traditionally been passed down directly from father to son rabbi to pupil generation to generation. It is a tremendous undertaking to present the challenging and vast concepts of the Kabbalah on a single medal and this is exactly what Israel has attempted to do in medals of 1 oz. pure gold or silver and in bronze. This may be the first official government medal which can also be seen as an amulet inasmuch as it also features Psalm 67 artfully written in the form of a Menorah (the sevenbranched candelabrum) which itself is considered an amulet for protection and success in life. The central concept of the Kabbalah is a system of 10 Sefirot the ten attributes of Gd through which the Diety interacts with the universe. The 10 Sefirot are here represented on a tree with the Keter the Supreme Crown at its peak. They are:. Hokhmah Wisdom. Binah Intelligence. Hesed Love. Gevurah Power. Tiferet Beauty. Nezah Endurance. Hod Majesty. Yesod Foundation. Malkhut Sovereignty. (and above all of them Keter the Supreme Crown). The Kabbalah has been deeply rooted in ancient Hebrew mysticism and Jewish thought. Only in the 12th and 13th centuries in Spain and Provence however did Kabbalists popularize its wisdom through the Book of the Zohar. Printing of the main books of the Kabbalah further spread and popularized it and the wisdom of the Kabbalah has since no longer belonged only to a select group of scholars. Since revealed to the people at large the Kabbalah has become a source of wisdom sought after worldwide attracting people from all walks of life. Within it one finds hope for a better world light in the darkness for both individual and community reassurance peace of mind joy and love. The singer Madonna as well as other international celebrities have discovered and become students of the Kabbalah and this has broadened the appeal of this journey of exploration into the meaning of life. State of Israel Coins Gaon of Vilna Bronze Medal $201.79 Rabbi Eliyahu ben Shlomo Zalman Kremer (17201797) is counted among the greatest Rabbis and scholars. Born in Vilnius Lithuania he was quickly recognized as a gaon a genius. By an early age he was able to study by himself and became known for his immense knowledge of both the hidden and revealed Torah Talmud Jewish Law and the Hebrew language. After years spent visiting Jewish communities and academies in Europe he returned to Vilna in 1748 already a scholar of renown and influence. He encouraged study of the secular sciences in which he was also knowledgeable. He laid special stress on study of the Jerusalem Talmud which had been neglected for centuries. A humble and modest man who drew many pupils but who declined official positions he was a voluminous author writing commentaries on nearly all of the ancient Hebrew books. The Vilna Gaon was known for his opposition to Hasidism with its stress on attaining a joyful oneness with Gd through prayer and song rather than study and exacting observance of religious law. His influence was central to the Misnagdim those who feared that Hasidism would detract from traditional Judaism. Following the wishes of the Vilna Gaon groups of his followers immigrated to Eretz Israel in the early 19th century signaling the beginning of the modern settlement of Israel. Eventually settling mostly in Jerusalem they revived Ashkenazi Jewry in Jerusalem founded the neighborhood of Mea Shearim and led the rebuilding of the Hurva Synagogue in the Old City. State of Israel Coins Hurva Synagogue Bronze Medal $201.79 The Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem was the central synagogue in Eretz Israel before the War of Independence. In the early 18th century Hasidim led by Rabbi Yehuda purchased the land with the intention of building an Ashkenazi synagogue in Jerusalem. After the rabbi s death the building remained unfinished and was eventually burned by the Arabs. From that time it was known as the Hurva (or Ruin) of Rabbi Yehuda HaHasid. In the 19th century the synagogue was rebuilt with financial assistance of Moses Montefiore. The tallest structure in the Old City its domed ceiling was 82 feet high and it contained 42foothigh window arches. The center of Jewish spiritual life and the home of important communal institutions during World War II the Hurva was the site of the launching of the Jewish Brigade and in a mass prayer service the cry went out to save European Jewry. This beautiful building was destroyed by the Jordanian Legion in 1948 and all that remained was the foundation and some columns. For the second time in history the Hurva was destroyed. After the Six Day War the ruins of the Hurva became an archeological site and its rebuilt arch became a symbol of renewed Jewish settlement in the Jewish Quarter. In 2002 the Government of Israel announced a decision to rebuild the Hurva through the Company for the Rehabilitation and Development of the Jewish Quarter. The new medal is being issued to mark the beginning of the reconstruction project. The medal issue was overseen by a Public Committee whose members were: Mr. Nissim Arzy Rabbi Mordechai Elon Ms. Yael Maly Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz Prof. Daniel Sperber Mr. Mordechai Yogev and Mr. Avi Goodman. Obverse:. On the face the planned restoration of the Hurva Synagogue and the verse from Isaiah: Shake yourself from the dust; arise . Reverse:. State of Israel Coins Lubavitcher Rebbe Silver Medal $439.79 Rabbi Menahem Mendel Schneerson known as the Lubavitcher Rebbe was one of the most important Jewish spiritual leaders in modern times. While he was the leader of the Lubavitcher (Chabad) Hasidic Movement his influence was and still is felt far beyond the limits of Lubavitch alone. The Rebbe was a child prodigy devoting all his energy to the study of Torah. He later acquired a secular higher education at the University of Berlin and the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1941 he managed to escape the horrors of the Holocaust and arrived in the United States with his wife. He then began intensive efforts towards rehabilitating the Jewish people and establishing Jewish educational organizations and institutions both in the United States and throughout the world. In addition the Rebbe strove to enhance Jewish awareness through his special Mitzvah Tanks promoting Tephillin Ahavas Yisroel (a love for the people of Israel) and Moshiach (Messiah). State of Israel Coins Akko Gold Coin $4591.93 The Bank of Israel has chosen the new Akko coin with which to open both the year 2010 and the new decade.

He was born in the Ukraine in 5458/1698 at the time when the Jewish population was suffering from despair after pogroms in Eastern Europe economically weak and deteriorating both spiritually and socially. His spiritual movement of Hasidism uplifted the morale of the people teaching how to attain a joyful oneness with Gd through prayer and song. He became known as the Baal Shem Tov Master of the Good Name and his fame spread rapidly. Thousands were attracted to him and thus the social spiritual Hasidic Movement in Judaism was created. State of Israel Coins From Ethiopia to Jerusalem Bronze Medal $201.79 This Official Medal marking the 20th Anniversary of Operation Moses honors the miraculous story of Ethiopian Jewry and their journey to Eretz Israel. The Beta Israel as they call themselves is one of the most ancient Jewish communities in the world. Their origins are shrouded in legend; one 9th Century Jewish traveler Eldad Hedni believed them to be descendents of the Tribe of Dan. Despite total isolation from the rest of the Jewish world oppression and hardships the community maintained its Jewish identity. From the 19th century until World War II the community benefited from educational assistance and material aid extended by Alliance. After the establishment of the State of Israel the Jewish Agency began educational activities including construction or schools and training of Hebrew teachers . By the early 1980 s serious threats to the Beta Israel religious and political harrassment famine horrendous health conditions and forced conscription of young boys made rescue efforts imperative. Illegal immigration through Sudan culminated in Operation Moses which from November 18 1984 until January 5 1985 brought 8 000 Jews to Israel. The difficulties of the journey a long trek by foot hunger thirst disease and attacks by thieves meant that only the most fit survived. Thousand died en route and many more were left in terrible conditions in Sudan. Finally in May 1991 Operation Solomon a modern exodus of truly epic proportions brought over 14 000 people home to Israel in a 36 hour period. Today most of the Beta Israel live in Israel. Obverse:. On the face of the medal immigrants climbing to Jerusalem their faces reflecting suffering and determination. At the head of the line a father holds a baby; behind him the strong help the weak. Reverse:. On the reverse the symbols of the Ethiopian tradition and culture: the Kesim (religious leaders) on the Seged festival homes a synagogue tools and a ritual bath. Around the edge the words of a prayer in Ge ez their liturg |

Many of these brave fighters went to the gallows accompanied by the prayers of the beloved Rav Aryeh . After 1948 he continued to visit convicts in jail believing that he could influence even the most hardened through hope prayer and friendship. The late Chaim Herzog 6th President of Israel wrote: Whenever I was in his company I invariably sensed that I was in the presence of a tzaddik a truly righteous man of piety not an ordinary righteous man but a tzaddik in every fiber of his being without a trace of materialistic concern or personal ambition indeed with no thought but concern for others. State of Israel Coins Akko Silver Proof like Coin $248.35 The Bank of Israel has chosen the new Akko coin with which to open both the year 2010 and the new decade.

Collectors’ Coins GB 2008 $11.99 The popular coin collectors handbook since 1973, and it still lists the most varieties and is still at least GB5 cheaper than its nearest rival. British coins are a fascinating field, each coin a historical document, each type has a design depicting an element of British society or culture, and the Royal family tree can be traced back on them, non only in words, but in pictures too. The fact these coins were spent by past generations and treated just like we treat modern coins, gives an insight into what people handled in days long gone. Coins can teach many aspects about the past, they can also cultivate the imagination, and who knows where that could lead. |

Bobos in Paradise $15.99 Do you believe that spending $15,000 on a media center is vulgar, but that spending $15,000 on a slate shower stall is a sign that you are at one with the Zenlike rhythms of nature? Do you work for one of those visionary software companies where people come to work wearing hiking boots and glacier glasses, as if a wall of ice were about to come sliding through the parking lot? If so, you might be a Bobo. In his bestselling work of comic sociology, David Brooks coins a new word, Bobo, to describe today’s upper class — those who have wed the bourgeois world of capitalist enterprise to the hippie values of the bohemian counterculture. Their hybrid lifestyle is the atmosphere we breathe, and in this witty and serious look at the cultural consequences of the information age, Brooks has defined a new generation. |
