Do the Royal Marines carry a knife/dagger whilst fighting in today’s modern era?
I know the Royal Marines are an elite Commando unit, but do they carry a knife for fighting or utilities out there in Afghanistan these days?
Yes, and I think it must still be the Sykes-Fairbairn knife first issued during WWII.
I still have my husband’s, issued in 1964. The edge still feels vaguely scary.
By the way, they weren’t used for ‘utilities’. Bayonets were, the fighting knife wasn’t.
