Dragon Postcard
tell me about the unicorn and dragon in the last battle?
I have a postcard of a warrior riding a unicorn slaying a dragon and the artist is vaclav vaca. My search showed me the Last Battle is C.S.Lewis’ book of Narnia. I want to know about the specific scene of the slaying of the dragon.
The picture is of a unicorn ridden by a warrior with large wings, spearing a three-headed dragon. It may not be from the chronicles of narnia. It’s just that is all I could find in my search. Anyone know where else it could be from? The picture can be seen at – The artist is Vaclav Vaca.

As you are already aware this painting was done by an artist named ‘Vaclav Vaca’, and he was a surrealist. He got the inspiration for this particular from a famous statue in the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel, in the Archdiocese of Toronto. This was when he saw a statue in one of the niches, representing St Michael the Archangel. He is in traditional battle array with his sword piercing the dragon which represents Satan.
This was his inspiration, and his painting was his particular interpretation of that same piece of art.
I am sorry to have to tell you that this has nothing to do with C.S.Lewis’ books The Chronicals of Narnia, although I can easily see how this comparison could be made.
