Forest Fairies
I need a good forest in Ireland for a fairy/fantasy book setting I’m writing?
NOTE: I posted this question in Travel-Ireland and Books&Authors because I need all the help I can get. I’ve never written a book like this before.

I’m sorry, this sounds completely stupid. This is just research for my book. I already have the other two locations, I just need a good forest for the main setting.
This plot is playing around with elves, fairies, night crawlers, nymphs, etc… So I decided to place it in the great fairy homeland of Ireland!
Hurray, I only need a name of a forest that would be perfect to house these types of mythical creatures.
I was looking for characteristics like:
Moist/ Rainy
Thick woods
Large Trees
Trees, plantation, floors covered in bright green moss(like you see when you google Celtic Forests)
That’s pretty much all I can come up with and it has to be rather “large”. Big enough to hide these creatures.

Has it escaped you this person, in fact, “is” on the internet and this “is” conducting research for their book. Perhaps she is not native to Ireland and this can make it rather difficult to tell which forests are PARKS and which forests are actually UNTAMED in travel guides. ‘Think’ before you troll at a stranger.
Now for the question, I can see what you mean. I’ve seen many of those pictures and yet they fail to give you a name of where it was taken. I would suggest google maps but I’ve recently looked over Ireland and it’s almost impossible to get an exceptional picture of roads and buildings. This, I fear, is why you’re having such a hard time finding a location. I would ask around people who are native to Ireland or look up travel reviews. Look for keywords like “park”, “reserve”, and “trail”. Those three words usually clue you that this wouldn’t be a very good secluded area for your habitat.
I would look up Portglenone Forest. I’ve ran over a few pictures and it is quite beautiful.
