Moving Feet and jumping legs,
A stiff body with straight arms.
My shoes are tied,
My socks are glued,
This type of dance was meant to do.
Colorful Costumes and beautiful crown,
Big ringlet curls that bounce around.
Brilliant gemstones,
Gorgeous earrings,
This Irish dance is a dream come true.
The music starts, and I’m off in a flurry.
In my slip jig I dance like a fairy.
My soft shoes float,
My hard shoes pound,
This is how its supposed to be.
My dance is done, my legs have stopped,
My heart is pounding, I’m out of breath.
My feet are tired,
My body aches,
But can’t you see, I’ve won first place!
I love this poem about the river dance! If I may ask a question? Is there supposed to be an “I” after dance in the first verse, fifth line? If not, my mistake, sorry. It has a fast, bouncy, clipping beat to the poem that is good in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
