I’m not published, but if you listen to advice from authors who are published, they all say pretty much the same things. Here are the ones I can answer:
2. A literary agent basically represents you in the publishing world and takes care of all the business stuff. It’s almost impossible to get published without one.
3. A query letter is what you send to agents in order to get an agent. It’s a one-page document about your story.
5. Unsolicited manuscripts are manuscripts sent to publishers from people without agents. Most publishers don’t read anything unsolicited.
7. Just write a clear query letter – make it as perfect and grammatically correct as possible. Check it a thousand times. Don’t be conceited, and don’t try too hard to write a creative query letter (they’ll just think you’re weird.) Just tell them about the story.
8. The genre is fantasy.
