Who makes professional marionettes?
For a reasonable price. I am looking for someone to create a clown figure for street performing. But where does one turn to find such a thing?

As well as Etsy, you can try ebay or one of the following puppet-related forums: http://www.puppetsandstuff.com , http://www.puppethub.com , http://www.puptrcrit.org . (The last one is a mailing list)
You can also try http://www.unima.org – the international puppetry organisation – and look for your national centre. For instance, http://www.unima-usa.org represents puppeteers in the US.
There are also plenty of puppet makers who sell on their own websites, like the well-known http://www.czechmarionettes.com/ or http://marionette-maker.blogspot.com/.
Be warned though, custom made puppets can get expensive. You may be better off buying something already made than to commission someone to make one for you. I’d also double check that the things you’re buying are not toys, as many puppet makers or craftspeople on Etsy/eBay sell towards a children’s audience rather than pro puppetry.
