What’s the trick to rewinding a mini dv cassette?

A lot of mini dv rewinders out there destroy my tapes.
Commercial dv rewinders destroy and wrinkle my tapes.

No not really. OK
Turn the tape over so you can see the two tape spindles, between them and closest to you there is a small square hole. there is a little tab that you need to pull towards you. now you can freely rewind the tape, its a bit of a juggling act, if you can put something in there to hold it all the better two or three matches, or even some paper towel.

If you need to do this often use a hand rewinder, better than the electric ones.

But why not just use your camera, unless the take is stuck

An aesthetic chameleon ever since his 1989 debut Let Love Rule, Kravitz has never been comfortable with borders, boxes, limitations. I was listening to a lot of New York hip-hop. I like that technique – the sparseness, the groove, the rhythm.
