The Numerous Benefits of Neodymium Magnets
What is Neodymium Magnet? A neodymium magnet (also known as NdfeB, NIB, or Neo magnet), the most widely-used type of rare_earth magnet, is a permanent magnet made from alloy of neodymium, iron and boron to form the tetragonal crystalline structure. Neodymium was discovered by Baron Carl Auer von Welsbach, an Austrian scientist and inventor who had talent for not only discovering advances, but also turning them into commercially successful products.
Developed in 1982 by General Motors and Sumito Special Metals, neodymium magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet ever made. They have placed other types of magnet in the many applications in the modern products that require strong permanent magnets such as motors in cordless tools, hard disk drives, and magnetic fasteners.
Neodymium magnets are known as the strongest permanent magnets. One is the Nd2Fe14B. A neodymium magnet even of a few grams can lift a thousand times its own weight. These magnets may be cheaper and lighter but they are stronger than samarium-cobalt magnets. The only problem is – neodymium magnets can lose their magnetism at high temperatures. As for Samarium magnets, they do not.
Neodymium magnets appear in products like microphones, professional loudspeakers and computer hard disks as well as in-ear headphones, bass and guitar pick-ups. Small volume, low mass or strong magnetic fields are also required.
Neodymium magnet electronic motors are also found to be responsible for the development of purely electrical model aircrafts during the first decade of the 21st century. This is up to a point were internal combustion powered models are internationally displayed. Likewise, due to its high magnetic-flux capacity, it is widely and heavily utilized in the electric motors of hybrid automobiles. This also goes for electricity generators of commercial wind turbines. Thus, the world production of neodymium magnets reached about 7,000tones per year in year 2004 alone.
Current productions that are coming from China, whose government has recently imposed strategic materials control on the element, have raised some concerns in most consuming countries. There are now therapeutic magnets that can be used for treating a wide range of ailments such as:

? arthritis
? migraine headaches
? osteoporosis
? chronic fatigue syndrome
? diabetes
? high blood pressure
? PVD
? poor circulation
These therapeutic magnets are also used for treating dermatitis and insomnia, eczema as well as spinal osteoarthritis or spondylosis, sciatica and multiple sclerosis. It is also known to treat anxiety, repetitive strain injury or RSI along with depression, epilepsy, stress and psoriasis.
For some people, magnetic therapy can stop the spread of cancerous tumors. It may also speed up the healing process for infections as well as broken bones.
