Potter Ornament
Starting New Traditions?
Last year my sister was killed in a car accident 5 days after her 21st Birthday and a little over a month before Christmas. We did not celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas last year but have decided to celebrate both the holidays this year. We want to start a new tradition for this Christmas.
I’ve had an ornament made by a friend of mine for my sister. It’s her favorite color and has her intial in the middle. Last year my dad got an ornament that had Dumbledore on it for us (Harry Potter was one of my sisters FAVORITE movies. It’s still in the box). I guess this has become a sort of tradition…collecting ornaments for her.
My question too you is what are some ideas for starting traditions? We want to honor my sister and always keep her with us all year long but especially during Christmas. I’m thinking of getting a nice diary of sorts and having each family member write down every year what they are thankful for.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That is a sweet thought, I lost both of my parents in ’92 and I did in a manner of speaking celebrate thanksgiving that year even though my plans went terribly wrong and I did celebrate christmas because I know that is what my parents would have wanted. I honor my parents, especially my mother, by always trying to have a red bird ornament on the tree or ornaments with a red bird on them on the tree as she had a special liking for them. I will always miss them and the christmas’ we had together but I know that they are together and happy and not suffering.
