Harry Potter fans:How do you feel when people say that harry potter is “just about a wizard”?
I find people who aren’t fans of harry potter *cough* twilighters *cough* think that harry potter is boring and “just about some wizard” that really angers me…dk why it just does.How do you feel when you here it?
I’m a big fan of Harry Potter – I’ve grown up with it, after all. I remember reading the first book in 1997. I was 7 years old then and the books spanned 10 years of my life as I grew up.
So maybe a couple of years ago I would have felt angry when somebody made such offhand generalisations about Harry Potter but I’m an adult and as such I find that these things don’t irritate me any more. I might feel people who shrug off a book so easily may be missing out but I don’t have the energy to care these days. People make their own decisions.
If somebody doesn’t like a book and has to resort to such boring, non-specific criticism, that certainly tells you something about their levels of literary understanding. If you don’t like a book, you should have specific reasons why. Otherwise it just seems like you’re not liking it because you don’t want to like it. The same goes for Twilight.
