Do People Who Attend Universities Who Are On the Quarter Credit System, Get Through School Faster?
I am looking at a graduate school for a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and it says on their website that a person needs to earn something like 230 credits to graduate with a degree, which is right around eight years going by the semester system that i am currently in for undergrad work. This school, however, is on the quarter credit system. Does that mean it wouldn’t take eight years to graduate (which is about twice as long as almost every doctoral program i have looked at)?
I think I all depends on your class load. In undergrad Psychology I took maximum credits each quarter I was in school, and could have finished in three years and 1 quarter If I chose to…I stayed around to graduate with my friends. I’m i a grad program right now that is on the semester track…I didn’t want to go straight into a Ph.D program…buuut…I’ve been in this program for Psychological Counseling for 1 year and 1 semester – I graduate in May of this year with my Masters – That’s 2 years. I’m going to go into a program that will accept my credits from my Master’s…which means that I will have 3 to 4 years left. I’m doing either Counselor Education or Counseling Psychology – I think it all depends on what you’re studying…Clinical is MAJOR there’s a lot of material and skills to cover – it’s intense so I can see it taking up to eight years for a working professional…but other programs that I’ve looked at while trying to decide on my doctoral study program…said six to seven for clinical – look here – tis is where I’ve had luck searching for programs http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ/state/#CA – also, ask your professors that you’ve developed a relationship with…they’re a good source too!
