Wall Candle

I burned a candle in my sunroom and it seems to have faded some of the paint on the wall. Is this possible?

The room had cooking smell in it, and I burned a couple of candles in the room. The darkbrown paint above the window–about five feet from where I burned the candle seems to have faded. I just had my whole home painted a few months ago and this is my favorite room. I’m not sure if it has faded from the candles, or if I’m just noticing it more now than when it was first painted.

I’ve also had the problem of black soot left behind on walls and ceilings from candles made from paraffin wax. I found some candles made from vegetable wax that don’t leave behind any black soot.
